Preparing for your appointment

Pre-care: Two months before your appointment, steer clear of antibiotics. In the 2-4 weeks leading up to your procedure, skip retinol products, acne treatments, and salicylic acid. Refrain from deep exfoliation like chemical peels for two weeks, and avoid filler or injections for 3 weeks. No saunas or tanning for 1 week. Discontinue blood thinners unless prescribed by a doctor - these substances can increase bleeding during the procedure and affect pigment retention. Within 24 hours, skip alcohol - You will be turned away if you have consumed any alcohol the day of your procedure as it will cause bleeding. On the day of your appointment avoid caffeine, and ensure no acne spots, cuts, or open wounds are on the area being treated.

Eyeliner specific pre-care: A further key element of precare is avoiding products such as Latese or any other sort of eyelash growth serum for at least two weeks prior to treatment. You cannot have false lashes on when getting permanent eyeliner. I suggest removing them at least one week prior to your procedure.
Brow specific pre-care: Another important aspect of pre-care is avoiding any treatments that may irritate or sensitize the brow area. This includes avoiding waxing, tweezing, or tinting your eyebrows at least one week prior to the brow appointment. By allowing your natural brows to grow to their fullness, I will better be able to see what we are working with. Avoid prolonged sun exposure and tanning beds, as sunburn or excessive UV exposure can make the skin more sensitive. Adhering to these pre-care instructions will help create an optimal canvas for powder brow procedures and contribute to a successful and comfortable experience.
Lip specific pre-care: If you have EVER had a cold sore, you will need to take Acyclovir for at least 3 days prior to your procedure (and for 3 days after) as the tattoo will irritate your skin and cause many cold sores to erupt if not strictly followed.

Essential Tips for Maintaining Your Cosmetic Tattoo

After undergoing an eyeliner/eyelash enhancement procedure, powder brow procedure, or lip blush procedure, proper aftercare is crucial for optimal healing and long lasting results. Here is the recommended aftercare routine:

1. Damp cloth - gently dab the treated area with a clean, damp cloth every 30 minutes for the first 3 hours after the procedure. This helps remove any excess plasma or blood and keeps the area clean.
2. Gentle cleansing - starting from the evening after the procedure, wash your treated area morning and night using a gentle cleanser such as Cetaphil or CeraVe. Apply a small amount of cleanser on your fingertips and gently cleanse the area, being careful not to scrub or rub vigorously.
3. Cream applications - after washing the treated area, apply a tiny amount of the provided cream to the treated area. Use approximately half the size of a grain of rice. Gently massage the cream into the skin, ensuring it is evenly distributed.
4. Repeat for 7-10 days - follow this gentle cleansing and cream application routine for 7-10 days. Consistency is key during this healing period to ensure the best results.
5. Do not pull off any scabs from the treated area, let it flake off naturally. Pulling off will pull pigment out from the skin.
6. Avoid makeup, lotions, sunscreens, and sun exposure for at least 7 days. This includes avoiding direct sun exposure, saunas, steam rooms, and excessive sweating, as these factors can interfere with the healing process and affect color retention.
7. Following these guidelines diligently will promote proper healing, minimize the risk of infection, and help your eyebrows look their best for an extended period.
8. For lips specifically - continue to take the Acyclovir for 3 days post procedure to ensure no breakouts of cold sores.
* Things to avoid after any procedure: Avoid wearing makeup on your face for 10 days. Do not scratch or pick at the treated area. Don’t use acid or exfoliants on the treated area. Only use the provided healing cream. Avoid swimming (in any type of water), hot tubs, or saunas for 10 days. Avoid tanning or UV exposure. Avoid acne products or hydroxy acid. Avoid facials for 30 days.
